As we all know, the 2013 NHL season is finally underway, and the Blackhawks are off to a great start (albeit sloppy).
Opening night for LA didn't go so well as we left them with a 5-2 win. Hossa had 2 goals and Kane, Toews as well as Frolik put pucks in as well.
Last night in Phoenix the Hawks won 6-4 in 3 periods. Hossa had another 2 goals, which means he's now scored in the first 5 periods of the 2013 season! The Blackhawks started off slow and Emery let is a soft goal, but after that it was a plethora of speed and skill. To me, it still seems a bit sloppy but it's only game 2 (time to improve).
Carcillo is also out for a month, supposedly with a "lower body injury."
Next game is the home opener, Tuesday, January 22 @7:30 vs the St. Louis Blues. Go Hawks!

Great Closing Week for Blackhawks!
As I mentioned this past week was a pretty important one for the Hawks, not just for their playoff hopes but for morale. I'd say they handled it pretty well! Tuesday they faced the Stars and won 5-2, Wednesday they had the Blues and won 6-5 and Friday they played the Avalanche and won 5-2!
They are facing Detroit as I type and are leading 1-0 with about a minute left in the first period.
The first 20 minutes of the game were great! Both teams very sound defensively, but Bolland was able to force one to the back of the net during a Hawks powerplay!
I can't wait for the playoffs!

Last Week for the Blackhawks

Tonight the Chicago Blackhawks play the Stars at 7:30PM. They are already Division Champs, but have a long way to go. This young team has been continually impressing me all season, let's hope it continues! I have immense faith in this team and maybe this year we can bring the Stanley Cup to Chicago! I for one, am expecting it. I'm thinking playoffs but they still need to clinch it. Tonight's game should do it, go Hawks!

Blackhawks Give Back
The Chicago Blackhawks were handing out gifts at Evanston Hospital. A few of the players handed out some nice gifts to some children who needed some cheering up this Christmas. I'm glad they were able to give some kids some holiday cheer. The next scheduled Chicago Blackhawks game is tonight, December 18th vs the Boston Bruins at the Madhouse on Madison at 7:30PM CST. Go Hawks!
